A concrete block is $8$ cm long, $8$ cm wide and $3$ cm tall. A square hole, $4$ cm by $4$ cm, is cut straight down through the middle of the block from the top face to the bottom face. Counting the inside walls of the hole, how many more square centimeters of surface does the block with the hole have than the solid block had?
