The grid points $(x, y)$ with $x$ and $y$ each a whole number from $0$ to $4$ form a $5$ by $5$ square of dots. How many rectangles with an area of exactly $4$ square units have all four corners on these dots and sides along grid lines? (Squares count as rectangles.)
